These two key exercises train both sides of the forearm for strength and size gains.
TheForearmBar™ can be used by beginner lifters all the way to professional athletes.
Just make sure to warm up appropriately, start light and do what feels comfortable for you.
We always recommend starting light and working your way up.
A good starting point is a 5kg plate for 3 sets of 15 reps with a full range of motion.
Don't be discouraged if this is too heavy, and certainly feel free to add extra plates (up to 40kg) as your strength increases.
Always remember to secure the weight plate with a suitable collar or clip.
TheForearmBar™ is designed to be used with Olympic weight plates (50mm / 2in).
These are the most common plates found in commercial gyms.
TheForearmBar™ is NOT compatible with 'standard' (25mm / 1 inch) weight plates.
No, 50mm (2in) Olympic weight plates are sold separately.
These are the most common plates found in commercial gyms which is why we designed TheForearmBar™ to be gym-bag friendly.
No, Olympic weight collars are not included.
TheForearmBar™ is designed to be gym-bag friendly so you can use it with any Olympic collar at your local gym (or home gym!).
Absolutely, the team at Barbell Grips all love using TheForearmBar™ at our local commercial gym.
Which is why we designed it to be gym-bag friendly and Olympic weight plate compatible.
TheForearmBar™ is great for wrist curls, which train the forearm muscles involved in wrist and hand strength. Stronger forearms can help support better gripping and grasping strength.
Harvard Health notes that many muscles involved in gripping extend into the forearms, and that strengthening these muscles can help gripping and grasping movements become more effective.
Research also links greater forearm muscle thickness with higher handgrip strength. In one study, differences in handgrip strength were significantly correlated with differences in forearm muscle thickness, with reported correlations of r = 0.765 and r = 0.622.
